I will not even write what Urban Dictionary thinks a Nor'easter is. For this blog's purpose, it is a large rain or snow storm on the east coast.

soup, strands, and shelving

It's finally beginning to feel a little more like winter this week. I put some soup together to warm up one evening. The above soup includes veggies with gimme lean sausage and baby kale. Yum yum! I've also started to think about Valentine's Day for my home and the shop. A while ago, I had ordered some hearts and stars cut out from vintage dictionaries and music sheets. For months I have seen great paper garlands and decided to make some of my own with the hearts and stars I ordered. I finished a few strands of them. Unfortunately, my sewing machine decided to crap out on me again and until it is fixed, I am stranded (no pun intended) without a machine to complete them.

I am a fan of using free items whenever I can. I had picked up these black shelves from a free pile in our building a few months ago and just couldn't decide where to put them. This week I decided to add them to my collage above the dresser. This is how it turned out! The drawing in the blond frame was done by one of my friends for Ryan and I one year anniversary. I love the collection of all of these items.

a day in cambridge

First we drove to East Cambridge to check out Calumet for photography supplies. Although small, it held everything that Ryan wanted. Next, we went to Harvard Square to look around. I found a silicone watch for $10 and Ryan found a few things at a tobacconist. At 1 we found ourselves hungry and wandered around until we decided on Charlie's Kitchen. They had a few vegetarian options and I ordered a vegetarian black bean burger and fries. It was delicious! Soon rain came and we quickly paid our bill and sought shelter. On the way home, we stopped at Peace O' Pie, a vegan pizza place in Allston, MA. I ordered the Buffalo Chik'n Pizza and a 1/2 pound of Daiya shredded mozzarella. The pizza was amazing!! It was so hot and spicy, but still had a great flavor.

Last week I had a thing for collard greens. Three days in a row I put them in foods for lunch. My favorite was fried tofu with collards, garlic, ginger and sweet chili sauce. Sometimes I would have soba noodles with it too. Also, in a wrap with hummous was amazing too.

These were some of the potatoes I bought from Mann Orchards on the left. On the right is Ryan's Hasselblad replacement, the Mamiya.

We have been working out 3 times per week. Ryan picked up this jug of protein powder for himself and carried it home. It is HUGE! Bigger than my head huge! Here he is, holding it and shaking his protein drink.
